Your word..

"Promises to Keep," Biden wrote: "My word was my bond. If I told someone I would do something, I would do it."

You know, growing up here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, we were taught that a person's word is their bond. It's a value that's been passed down from generation to generation, a value that Joe Biden, who grew up right here in Scranton, often talks about. And for good reason—it's the foundation of trust, integrity, and honesty.

At our table, words hold weight. They're not just sounds that come out of our mouths; they're promises, commitments, and assurances. When we say we're going to do something, people should be able to take that to the bank. It's about reliability, and it's about respect—respect for ourselves and for others.

Think about it this way: when you tell your kids you'll be home in time for dinner, they count on it. When you promise your neighbor you'll help them move that heavy furniture, they plan around it. And when our leaders promise to work for us, to fight for our jobs, our healthcare, and our communities, we need to know they mean it.

Joe Biden often talks about his dad's saying, "Joey, a man's word is his bond." It's a simple phrase, but it carries a lot of weight. It's about being true to yourself and to others. It's about standing up for what's right, even when it's tough. And it's about following through on your commitments, no matter what.

This isn't just about politics; it's about who we are as people. It's about the values we hold dear—values like honesty, hard work, and common sense. These are the values that make us who we are, that make Northeastern Pennsylvania the strong, resilient community it is.

But talking about the importance of our word isn't enough. We need to live it, every day. That means being honest with ourselves and with each other. It means standing up for what's right, even when it's hard. And it means following through on our commitments, whether that's showing up for a community meeting, volunteering at the local food bank, or voting for leaders who share our values.

And speaking of voting, let's not forget the importance of electing leaders who understand the power of their word. Leaders like Harris and Waltz, who are committed to fighting for working families, for good jobs, for affordable healthcare, and for strong communities.

Let's be the kind of people who say what they mean and mean what they say. Let's stand up for what's right, even when it's tough. And let's vote for leaders who will do the same.

Let's show the world that here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, our word is our bond. And let's make sure all our leaders know that we expect the same from them.

In her first public remarks since President Joe Biden endorsed her to take over the 2024 campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris praises what she calls Joe Biden's “unmatched” legacy and says she is “deeply grateful for his service to our nation.” Read more: https://bit.ly/4cOuGxy
